Maki

Born in 1964 in Marseille (France), Maki still lives in Marseille, working as a photographer, publisher, composer of electroacoustic music, DJ and radio producer. He studied photography in school in the early 80's and exhibited his productions in different countries: Belgium (Museum of Modern Art, Liège), Switzerland (Fumetto Festival), Japan (Sonic Hall, Kobé), France (Rencontres d'Arles Off ; Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles, NoFound photo Fair, In)(between Gallery, Paris ; Musée des Arts Modestes, Sète), Canada (Gallery Lee-Ka-Sing, Toronto), Czech Republic (T.H. Cultur, Brno)...
His published works include: VIEW photography magazine #7 (Belgium), Welcome 2 my room, a 3 mini photobooks trilogy published by Média Immédiat Publishing, the Catalog of the 7th International Biennial of Photography of Liège, Belgium, PRIVATE magazine #49, FOTO & VIDEO magazine #2 (Russia), SMOKE magazine #1 (France), MONO Vol.1, a luxury photobook published by Gomma Books (London), TIMESHOW CINQ, a photobook published by Timeshow Press (France), the Catalog of the exhibition PHOSPHÈNES in Arles 2015, also by Timeshow Press...
In 2007 Maki was among the founding members of the collective of European photographers SMOKE which disbanded in 2012 and included Roger Guaus, Jukka Onnela, Monia Montali, Laetitia Donval, François Bodeux, Idalina Pedrosa and Maki, of course.
In 2010, he founded Média Immédiat Editions. A collection of 11 mini photobooks have been published by this independant publishing house to this date, including works by Onaka Koji, Morten Andersen, Ed Templeton, Ichiba Daisuke…

From time to time, Maki also reviews photobooks for the photobookstore.co.uk in England and Photoeye.com in the USA, as well as for his "Photobooks Collectors" page on Facebook where he presents the photobooks he recommends.
